Every single
day, hundreds and hundreds of passwords to pay or otherwise private
web sites are distributed through underground channels. These channels
include WWW Sites, Usenet Newsgroups, E-mail, Bulletin Boards, Chat
Rooms, ICQ, IRC and more! Basically, a "cracked" ID (one which
has been distributed) has the ability to be seen by thousands and even
hundreds of thousands of people.
Some of the
problems a traded ID can cause are:
- Excessive Transfer
- this really adds up at an average of $6-$12 per Gigabyte!
- Direct loss
of membership sales - why pay if you can see it for free?
- Indirect loss
of membership sales
- caused by:
- Slowness of
site due to CPU/Memory Usage
- Slowness of
site due to insufficient bandwidth
- Access of your
site by minors
- we all want to keep the kids out, don't we?
- Disabling of
your site by your ISP due to excessive resource usage
Enter AntiTrader:
AntiTrader provides an easy
solution to the devastating problem of password theft and trading. AntiTrader
will sit and watch the traffic on protected areas of your web site quietly
and transparently in the background. Due to the special way AntiTrader
works, it does not run every time someone views a web page (like some
other ones do) but it keeps a single process running all of the time.
No matter how many people are accessing your web site at the same time,
just 1 copy of AntiTrader is running, virtually eliminating all of the
overhead!
AntiTrader will watch every
hit from every member who's logged in and counts their Class C subnets
(such as 205.166.84.*). Unlike some of the other protection packages,
AntiTrader doesn't watch just IP address, it watches subnets which means
that the problem many people have had in the past with AOL users is eliminated.
If the number of subnets a user accesses the site from exceeds a configurable
amount in a set time period (normally 10 subnets in 1 hour, but it's totally
configurable), AntiTrader kicks in with your preset instructions. You
have the option of setting AntiTrader to either notify you by E-mail,
automatically disable the abused ID or do both and it will do it
quickly, painlessly and automatically.
